I’ve only recently started to eat quinoa as I’m always after new gluten free grains to try. Up until now I’ve used it as a savoury item instead of cous cous or rice. This morning I decided to try and make a breakfast style oatmeal dish from quinoa and I’ve paired it up with banana and cinnamon for a tasty filling breakfast.




  • 175ml water
  • 65g quinoa
  • 235ml dairy free milk
  • 1 banana
  • 2 teaspoons honey/agave
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  1. Bring a pan of water to the boil then add the quinoa
  2. Simmer until all the water has been absorbed, about 15 minutes
  3. Place the milk, banana, honey/agave and cinnamon in a blender and blitz until smooth
  4. Pour the banana milk mixture into the pan with the quinoa
  5. Simmer for about 10 minutes or until it reaches a thick consistency
