Open Cheese Steak Sandwich

  • 1 gluten free baguette or sub roll
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1 pepper sliced
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 250 g beef strips
  • 2 tbsps dairy free cheese grated


  • Add the olive oil, onion, pepper, garlic, brown sugar and apple cider vinegar in a shallow pan over a medium heat
  • Sauté for 5 minutes
  • Add in the beef steak strips and saute for 4 minutes
  • Set aside
  • Cut the roll in half lengthways and place outside downwards on a baking sheet
  • Top with the steak mix and dairy free cheese
  • Heat under a low grill until the cheese has melted
  • Serve with salad and fries
