Five Spice Slow Roast Pork

  • 500 g pork diced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 150 ml boiling water
  • 4 spring onions sliced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar
  • 4 tbsps apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsps tamari

To serve:

  • 4 large handfuls od stir fry vegetable mix
  • 200 g basmati rice cooked according to instructions on packet
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds


  • Place all the ingredients for the pork into a slow cooker on a high setting and cook for 4 hours (alternatively you can do on a low setting for 8 hours)
  • Remove the pork and pour the sauce into a saucepan
  • Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes to thicken the sauce
  • Pour over the pork and serve with stir fried vegetables, rice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds
