Makes 8 fritters


  • 1 apple, peeled, cored and cut into small cubes
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 120g gluten free plain flour
  • 40g caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 90ml dairy free milk
  • 1 egg
  • 25g dairy free spread, melted


  1. Toss the apple cubes in one teaspoon of ground cinnamon and set aside
  2. Whisk together the flour, caster sugar, baking  powder, remaining teaspoon of cinnamon, egg, milk and melted dairy free spread
  3. Stir through the cinnamon apples
  4. Heat a 1-2 inches of oil in a saucepan over a medium heat
  5. Drop in a little batter, if it sizzles and then rises to the top the oil is at temperature
  6. Drop heaped tablespoons of the batter into the oil a couple at a time
  7. Cook for 2 minutes then flip the fritters and cook for another 2 minutes
  8. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and dust with icing sugar
