Almond milk is a good source of magnesium, selenium and vitamin E. Magnesium can help breakdown food, vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect the cell membranes and selenium is good for the immune system.
Almond milk is also a good source of unsaturated fat, protein, flavonoids and potassium and has less sugar than soya milk.
Rice milk is considered the most hypoallergenic of all milk substitutes. It is the least fattening of all the milk alternatives but due to the high starch contents of rice, this milk has three times the sugar content of soya milk.
The unsaturated fat comes from the rice bran oil which can help lower cholesterol and the high magnesium content helps to control blood pressure.
Soya milk is packed with protein and fibre but still has minimal saturated fat. As it is plant based it is suitable for people with lactose and milk allergies.
Its downside is that it can be quite high in sugar.
